Land managers encouraged to report storm damage
06 June 2016
Local Land Services will be assessing agricultural damage following the significant rainfall, storms and flood activity across the NSW coastline over the weekend.
North Coast Local Land Services staff are available to receive individual damage reports and meet with farmers to assess damage as a result of this storm activity.
Manager Biosecurity & Emergency Services, Jo McGoldrick, has encouraged land managers to call 1300 795 299 or contact their nearest Local Land Services office to report storm damage.
“We would like to speak to farmers to gain an understanding of the full extent of damage across the region and to determine the areas affected,” Jo said.
Local Land Services will collate the information reported by farmers into an Agricultural Natural Disaster Report for the Department of Primary Industries.
The Department of Primary Industries is working with industry representatives to understand and respond to the storms at the whole of state level.
Customer services staff are ready to assist farmers who need to report damage.
Farmers with animal emergencies or requiring animal rescues should contact the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 immediately.
