Growers encouraged to report storm damage

Hail damage at a blueberry orchardNorth Coast Local Land Services is currently assessing agricultural damage and impacts following another hail storm on Monday in the Corindi area.  Growers are requested to provide details of any storm damage including crop losses.

North Coast Local Land Services and Department of Primary Industries staff have commenced assessing the damage around the Corindi area, north of Coffs Harbour by meeting with growers and major grower groups to assess the extent and level of damage.

Growers are encouraged to call North Coast Local Land Services on 1300 795 299, or contact their nearest office, to report the damage to crops and infrastructure.  These reports will assist in preparing an accurate estimation of the total costs to the various industries in the area.

Manager Biosecurity & Emergency Services Jo McGoldrick said, "We are aware that there are a number of blueberry orchards in that region that have been affected but we would like to speak to more growers to gain an understanding of the full extent of damage and to determine the area affected."

North Coast Local Land Services will collate all reports of damage and an Agriculture Natural Disaster Report will be submitted to the Department of Primary Industries when all necessary details are determined.
