North Coast community input sought on new strategy

People visiting the Lismore Farmers MarketNorth Coast Local Land Services is developing a roadmap to ensure that it is meeting its mission of improving primary production and better management of natural resources across the North Coast region. The Draft North Coast Local Strategic Plan has been released for public consultation and members of the community are invited to provide comment up to midnight on 22 November 2015.

North Coast Local Land Services is one of eleven regions spread across the state and the organisation is built on foundations of local strategy and local service delivery. The organisation is committed to a local approach and has an experienced team who are genuinely committed to providing services tailored to the needs of our local agricultural industries, communities and natural systems.

The North Coast region is the third most biodiverse region in Australia which also supports a progressive, diverse and engaged community and a mix of agricultural industries.

North Coast Local Land Services Acting Chair, Mark Bulley, said today, "The North Coast region is unquestionably the most agriculturally and environmentally diverse in the state.

"North Coast Local Land Services is presented with the challenge of delivering quality services to a broad audience in an effective and efficient manner.

Bruce Brown, General Manager, said that elements of the North Coast agricultural industry are undergoing a significant 'seachange' and he hoped the Strategic Plan would assist in building industry and community resilience.

Mr Brown continued, "We are keen to hear from any member of the community, whether they are land managers or not, about the strategies and goals we propose to implement to address the important challenges and to maximiseour 'value add' for the North Coast region."

"This is a five year plan and we want to know whether our goals and strategies are meeting the expectations of our customers," he said.

Individuals and organisations are being given the opportunity to comment on the North Coast Local Strategic Plan.  The plan is designed to reflect the aspirations and objectives of the community, so North Coast Local Land Services is seeking input from as many people and groups as possible.
